Flight arrival at the airport of Gorno-Altaisk, meeting.

Stop for lunch at the mouth of the Big Ilgumen river on the banks of the Katun river. Here is the most beautiful threshold on the river Katun - Ilgumen (4 K. s.). Catering near Ilgumenskogo threshold in the national dwelling - ail (covered with the bark of larch Chum). Next - stop to explore the petroglyphs of the sanctuary of Big Yaloman-3. Arrival in the tourist complex Inegen. Accommodation and dinner. The tourist complex is located near the mouth of the Chuya River in the sacred place for Altaians Chui-Ooz. Day 2 (September 23)

Auto-walking tour to the mouth of the Argut River. Picnic and fishing on the banks of the Katun River

After breakfast we make a trip to the mouth of one of the most inaccessible rivers of the Altai - the Argut River. On the old road, built in the postwar period, we will drive along the Katun river, stop at several observation platforms. Then we will take a walk along the cobblestone road over the river to the mouth of Argut. It is believed that the Argut Valley is home to a large population of snow leopards (about 15 individuals). Return to the Katun river, a bonfire and a picnic on the river Bank. Return to the tourist complex, dinner with tasting of dishes of the Altai cuisine. After dinner - a concert of Altai throat singing. This type of art of the peoples of Central Asia is inscribed in the List of intangible cultural heritage of UNESCO.
Day 3 (September 24)
Moving to the valley of the Katun river
Karakol valley

Today we move to the area of Chemal resort. On the way we visit the sacred Karakol valley. The valley has been inhabited since the bronze age. Here are the necropolis, ritual complexes, stone steles, petroglyphs. A number of finds are exhibited in the Hermitage (Scythian time). Unusual artifacts were found in the stone crypts of Karakol culture (3 Millennium BC) – images of humanoid creatures made with mineral paint. Outwardly, they are very similar to the American Indians. Today Karakol valley is also used by local residents to perform rituals, shamanic rites. Together with a local woman, we will walk through the valley, touch the places of power, learn about the customs and culture of the Altai people. We dine in a real dwelling of the Altaians. Catering.

At lunch time - a concert of Altai throat singing. This type of art of the peoples of Central Asia is inscribed in the List of intangible cultural heritage of UNESCO. Usually Kaichi (master of throat singing), performing epic, slowly immersed in a trance.

Next – transfer to the mountain hotel "Teneri" near the village of Askat. The hotel is located in a pine forest on the banks of the Katun river, between two villages – Askat and Anos. In Anos at the beginning of the 20th century lived the first professional Altai painter – Gregory Choros-Gurkin, a student of I. I. Shishkin. Day 4 (September 25)
Tour of the valley of the Lower Katun

After breakfast we will come to Chemal village, the most famous resort in the Altai Mountains. Chemal is the warmest place in Altai due to the sun radiation and warm mountainous winds. The village was founded in the middle of the 19th centure by Russian Orthodox missioners. The name of the place could be translated as anthill because numerous sheep herds were similar to small ants if somebody was looking at them to from the mountain summit.

First of all we will visit Russian Orthodox Church of St Johan Theologian on the Patmos Island. This temple was the ancient one in Chemal Village. Later it was replaced from the village to the island in the middle of the Katun River. This remote and lonely island was favorite praying place for praying of the St. Macarius, the founder of the Chemal Orthodox Mission. In the 1930th the wooden church on the island had burnt and was re-built only in the beginning of the 2000th.

After visiting the church on the Patmos Island we will walk along the bank of the Katun River towards the mouth of its tributary – the Chemal River. The whole path will take about 40 minutes. You will enjoy the picturesque views of the mountainous rivers and autumnal colors. At the end of the path we will see the Chemalskaya hydroelectric power station built in the 1930th. We will cross the river by the suspension bridge.

Excursion to a maral deer farm
Altai is one of the leaders in maral deer breeding. The velvet antlers of those animals are effective in many kinds of therapy. It was Ancient Chinese Doctors who start to use antlers first in medicine. After many centuries local people in Altai started to breed marals for taking velvet antlers. They provide wide spectrum of medicines for many diseases (increasing immunity, helps with skin problems, good for men's health and others). In the farm you will see maral deers. The owner of the farm will tell us about the process of maral breeding, shows how they collect velvet antlers and store them. Afterwards we will have short horseback riding in the maral deer farm. This is the huge mountainous park with hills and forest where marals live.

After excursions we will come back to the hotel and have a gala-dinner. After the dinner we can seat near the bon-fire and enjoy the private concert of a bard. He will sing tourist songs with guitar.
Day 5 (September 26)
Farewell to Altai
Early Breakfast and transfer to Gorno-Altaysk airport.
