Winter partnership tour with celebrating Altaic national holiday Chaga Bairam (nomadic New Year according to the lunar calendar)

We have a unique opportunity to visit Altai during the special time of celebrating nomadic New Year – Chaga Bairam. The holiday widespread among the nomads in Northern Asia and celebrating in Mongolia, Tuva, Buryatia, Tibet, India. We will visit real Altaic village far in the mountains and celebrate the holiday together with locals in very authentic atmosphere. Also you will enjoy the scenic landscapes of winter Altai and travel to fairy-tail snowy taiga, test the mountain ski resorts, enjoy Russian sauna.

Day 1 – 4 February 2020
Acquaintace with Altai. Princess of Ukok
Accommodation – Belovodie Hotel, Belokurikha (single accommodation)
Distance – 130 km

9.00 – arrival to Gorno-Altaisk airport, breakfast. Excursion to National Museum of Anokhin, where you can see the mummy of Princess of Ukok.
Transfer to Belokurikha, check in and spare time.
14.00 – 15.00 – lunch
15.30 – inspection of the hotel and SPA facilities
from 17.00 to 22.00 – visiting aquapark
18.00 – 20.00 dinner
Day 2 – 5 February 2020
Belokurikha. Visit to a blacksmith.
Mountain ski resort

Accommodation – Tayezhnaya Zaimka resort, Belokurikha (Twin accommodation)

from 8.30 to 10.00 breakfast, check-out
10.30 – trip to Belokurikha. Visit to the only one blacksmith woman in Siberia Anna Beletskaya. We will forge a small souvenir together with her.
13.00 – transfer to Tayezhnaya Zaimka resort, check-in
14.00 - lunch
15.00 – 16.00 – inspection of the tourist complex
16.00 – mountain skiing (ski lift is included into the package cost, renting of ski facilities – additional payment) .
18.00 – dinner
19.00 – Russian sauna (4 hours)
Day 3 – 6 February 2020
Transfer to Seminsky Pass. Swan Lake, cooking class on herbal teas and balms,

Transfer to Seminsky Pass
12.00 – 13.00 – visiting the Swan reserve. Altai is the only one place in Siberia where the swans come to spend winter season. Every November hundreds of swans and other waterfowls arrive to unfrozen lakes in Altai foothills and create fairy-tail atmosphere.
14.00 – 16.00 – lunch at the cafe of Altaiskoye Holmogorie. Green lunch – Russian traditional meals cooked with wild herbs. For example you can taste green dumplings with potato, mushrooms and nettle.
After lunch – cooking class. We will make herbal tea and balms with herbs.
16.00 – 20.00 – transfer to the lodge on Seminsky Pass
20.00 – arrival to the hotel, check in and dinner
Day 4 – 7 February 2020
Riding to Mt Sarlyk by snowcat, mountain skiing
Accommodation – Dinamo Lodge, cabins with en suite facilities (Twin accommodation)

9.00 – breakfast
10.00 – riding to Mt Sarlyk by snowcat. It is the highest summit of Seminsky Pass. The name of the mountain means yak.
14.00 – return to the hotel, lunch
15.00 – spare time or mountain skiing (skiing equipment and ski lift are not included at the price)
18.00 – dinner
20.00 – Russian Sauna
Day 5 – 8 February 2020
Chaga Bairam – celebration of nomadic New Year
Trip to Karakolskaya Valley, nomadic culture and concert of throat singing
Accommodation – Dinamo Lodge, cabins with en suite facilities (Twin accommodation)
Distance – 90 km

Today we have a unique opportunity to celebrate nomadic New Year Chaga Bairam. It is the ancient holiday and it is celebrating according to lunar calendar. Early in the morning we will go to small Altaic village in Karakolskaya Valley and we will participate in holiday rites with locals. Here you can taste nomadic cuisine. At the end of the day we will enjoy the concert of Altaic throat singing.

Karakol Valley is very revered among the Altaic people as a sacred place. There are a lot of archaeological sites here (burial mounds, stone steles, rock drawings).
Day 6 – 9 February 2020
Chike Taman Pass, Ilgumensky Rapid on the Katun River, transfer to Chemal Village, hiking to Che Chkysh Mountainous Gorge
Accommodation – Klever Resort Hotel 4* (single accommodation)
Distance – 200 km

9.00 – breakfast, check out
10.00 – firstly we will ride along the Chuisky Trakt to Chike Taman Pass and Ilgumensky Rapid on the Katun River. This place is specially amazing in winter time. We can enjoy the Katun River wich is not frozen and has many rapids. Afterwards we will drive to Chemal village.
15.00 – arrival to Klever Resort Hotel, check in and lunch
16.00 – hiking to Che Chkysh Gorge.
18.00 - dinner
20.00 – Russian sauna
Day 7 – 10 February 2020
Hiking to Blue Lakes of the Katun River, visit to Chemal village, Patmos Island and Chemalskaya Power station
Accommodation – Klever Resort Hotel 4* (single accommodation)
9.00 – breakfast
10.00 – hiking to Blue lakes on the Katun River, those lakes have amazing turquoise color and not covered by ice.
14.00 – return to the hotel, lunch
15.30 – ecxursion to Chemal. You will visit St John the Evangelist Church on Patmos Island and walk to Chemalskaya Power Station.
20.00 – return to the hotel, dinner
Day 8 – 11 February 2020
6.00 – early breakfast 7.00 – transfer to Gorno-Altaisk airport, flight to Moscow
